2015 RESOLUTIONS.

2015 RESOLUTION

Again with our tool RESOLUTIONS... we are going to consider how we can be able to implement our resolutions in 2015 using the tool.

R- Respect

If you respect what you want, you don't compromise them for anything else. What are the things you want to achieve? where do you want to get to? State these in clear terms, one after the other in the order of preference. Be yourself, don't state because others want those, but because they are your wants and needs. I mean the most important ones after thinking through all. Just respect the things you set for yourself to achieve.

E- Ensure

Ensure your goals are definite,realistic and achievable. Ensure you commit yourself to what you want to do.After you know what you want in 2015, now Ensure it works. 
The truth is that apart from you, nobody really can get your goals for you. You are the sole player,you are the lead actor in your movie, all the other people are supporting actors or detractors,so if you don't play your part as such,then be sure your movie will not sell. That is why there is a need to believe and be committed and ensure it works. Purpose in your heart to make it work.

S- Strategy

Have a strategy to make it work. Make a plan. It is always better to avoid answering the why and the what her, rather focus on the how? Develop concrete steps to get to your destination. If you need to earn a masters degree this year, how are you going to do it? The leaps to get there should be a sure way to success and always have back up plans. If Plan A fails what next? It is equally important to analyse your strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats in order to help you make informed choices or decision regarding your strategy. 2015,Plan,Prepare,Act.

O- Opportunities

When opportunity meets preparation,success is always assured. I believe you have heard the phrase  “ opportunities knock but once” several times. Sometimes if you are lucky,you get SIMILAR opportunities again. But it is only a fool who says “ I will always get another”. The most important thing is how prepared are you when these opportunities knock at your door? The amount of success you have made, greatly depended on how much prepared you were when opportunity knocked. The truth however is that, there are some opportunities you can never get again when you miss(back to the phrase), that is why there is a need to be prepared. 
What I have also realized over the years is that, sometimes you have to create your own opportunities. You get out there, look for this opportunity rather than waiting patiently for it to knock at your door. Sometimes you've got to knock at "Mr Opportunity's" door and tell him hey, "if you aren't coming, I am here”.
 Brooke Shields says “Don't waste a minute not being happy. If one window closes,run to the next window or break down a door".

Look Up

My dad normally tells me, the weight of what is chasing you determines your speed... Speed in this sense means move on, do something, don’t sit idle, add value to yourself. The sky is even no more the limit for others,why not you? it can also be your starting point in 2015. 
 Looking up also means trusting and depending on God to carry you through reaching your target. Bear in mind that God is always a good God. He said He will never leave you nor forsake you. You have heard from our ancestors, you have read about how this God redeemed them. He is all powerful...He is still the same God.His power is above all powers. 
As human,you only know what is happening at a moment in time, but God knows the end from the beginning.so why wont you look up to the one who sees far beyond the starry skies. Seek for divine intervention in 2015.

U- Understand the game

Knowledge is being aware of an issue but wisdom is having understanding and applying the acquired knowledge. So knowledge alone is not enough, seek understanding in what you do. Understand how things work in your community . Understand the laws governing the country you live in. Understand the people surrounding you. Understand your own issues, be on top, that is to say be an expert in your field. Above all, understand yourself.

T- Try Again

I remember a poem we used to recite when we were in the primary school. “Try Again, if at first you don’t succeed , try again” This is a very powerful poem but we didn't understand.

My dear friend, try again if it doesn't work at the first attempt or even at the tenth attempt. Remember the story of the Wright brothers? I urge you to try again if you fail.

In fact,it is better to try and fail than not to try at all. The truth is that you lose nothing when you try because you already have nothing, but you have everything to lose when you don’t try because you may miss something. Paul Kronenberg once told me “No, you already have but Yes you may have when you try”.

 Never give up on yourself and never give up on your dream,by all means keep trying.

I- Important Information

The thing that mostly set us back are the kind of information we code. Try as much as possible to sort information into sectors and throw away all irrelevant information that will retard your progress in 2015 and focus on the important information that will help you attain your goals. 
Watch what you watch, what you read and what you listen to.

Important information should be treated as important. Some things may be urgent but not important, likewise some may be important but not urgent. In this case use your own intuitions to conclude as to which information are to be treated as important. But in all these,prioritize and just remember First things first.

O- Other people.

Because we live with people and not as islanders, it is very important to consider and respect the people around us. Always think of how you can be of help to other people and how they can also be a help to you. 
Learn from other people. You can use an hour to learn from someone's 30 years life experiences just by reading his/her writings,listening to audio,watching clips or chatting with him/her. Spend time with other people. What can you also do in 2015 to help empower other people? what are you bringing on board whiles you are ready to take away?
However, in dealing with human, you should also bear in mind that some of these people don’t share your dream and don’t even believe in them,you must therefore tread with caution. Sometimes you need to clear the way in order to make a head way,by so doing, you need to push some people and cut down some friends.

But in all,It is important to treat other people like customers on whom your business depends or thrives.

N- Never waste time
We have all been given 24 hours in a day,the difference lies in how these hours are spent by each individual. To quote Charles Darwin “A man who dares to waste one hour of his time has not discovered the value of life.”. I agree with him because, I see life as time and time as life. Anyone who values his time values his life. Therefore, if you want to enjoy good life, make good use of your time. Never waste time, time lost can never be recovered just as life lost can never be regained. Make good use of any little time that come your way.

Others say “Time is money” This is also true because the end product of all positive use of time could be money.

And I say never waste time living other people's lives and dreams,live your own life. Time is too short to waste. Be yourself and believe in your dream.

S- Sacrifice

In 2015, you need to make a lot of sacrifices in order to get there. There is  ONE THING that I have noticed in all successful people and that is sacrifice. To achieve your goals in 2015, there are several things you must learn to sacrifice for example self, sleep,time,money,food etc. it is also a way of disciplining one's self for greater heights. Philip Zimbardo puts it “To be a hero means you step across the line and are willing to make a sacrifice,so heroes always are making sacrifices.” 

Don't just wish for a good year,Make conscious efforts to make it happen. Happy 2015.
