Do you really know Him?

Do you really know Him?

In all logical conclusion, there were more than 10,000 people that fateful day. Lets then empathize with the disciples for a moment.
From a human perspective, they were right. 5 loaves of bread and 2 fishes certainly would not feed 5,000 men plus.

I have added “plus” because, in John's account we were told women and children were not counted. “The approximate count of men only were 5,000”. (John 6:10 B,The living Bible) .

The word “man” is often used in the Bible to represent both gender, but in this verse it can't be so in the sense that the word “only “ was used to qualify it, just to make understanding easier. The word only was stressed indicating that indeed women and children were not counted.
If so then let's assume that 50% of the men were married and each brought his wife and at least one child. That gives us 7,500 people(some may have come with more than one, others may have no child} The other 50% may have included widowers, divorced and bachelors. Let's not forget, the uncounted may also have included children, widows, divorced and other single women who were also trying to seek the single men's attention in such a big gathering.
Therefore from all physical indications, just like the disciples,5 loaves and 2 fishes were really not enough to feed over 10.000 people.

But the issue here is that, the disciples knew who Jesus was, they were always with him, they saw him healed the sick, raised the dead...So why didn't they believe Jesus was capable of feeding this huge crowd? Philip said”it will take a fortune to feed the crowd” Andrew said” There is a youngster with 5 loaves and 2 fishes, but how good is that with all this mob?” Nevertheless, Jesus instructed that, His disciples bring the loaves and fishes to Him. Even this act didn't dawn on the disciples that, they had watched Him raised the dead ,so someone who could perform such wonder is also capable to feed the hungry regardless of the number.
But Jesus went further to ask the disciples to prepare the mob in groups for their meal. Until this time. the disciples had no clue of the “how” but Jesus knew and He proved it.
The 5 loaves and 2 fishes multiplied to thousands with excesses.

Isn't it so easy to analyze from afar,? Sure, It is.
Let's now see the application in our own lives.
We proclaim we know Him...how well do we know this God?
How often do we know what Jesus said about supplying our needs , about not leaving us nor forsaking us,about we being healed by His stripes? Yet we still do not have faith that He is able to do exceedingly and abundantly.

We should know the kind of God we serve. A loving, caring and faithful God,who even in our unfaithfulness still remains faithful. Faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of God according to the Good news,so study the Bible, don't just thumb through, listen to and watch “Godly” messages, songs, tapes etc and share the word and I believe strongly you will know Him well.

So the big question again is “Do you really know Him? I am sure by now you do.

Thank you for reading.

.And Jesus Fed the Five (or more) Thousand with ONLY 5 loaves of bread and 2 Fish.

The story of Jesus feeding five or more thousand men can amazingly be found in all four Gospels. This means God must have an important message for us in there. Going through the passage,i realised this story is more than just loaves and fish . Let us therefore take a closer look at our father and how some of His attributes reflect in this passage.

All knowing Father
Those of us who serve the living father are very fortunate to have a father who seems to know all. With our limited vision,we actually need “someone”who sees above what we can not see and who knows what we do not know. Jesus knows the end from the beginning. According to the story, with the limited “sight”of the disciples just like any other human,Philip said, in John 6: 7 “Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that everyone one of them may have a little.”NKJV. But Jesus knew that indeed the five loaves and two fish were just enough to do feed ALL the people. H then asked the disciples to tell the people to sit down and prepare to dine. According to the Scriptures Jesus knew what to do“ Lifting up his eyes, then, and seeing that a large crowd was coming toward him, Jesus said to Philip, “Where are we to buy bread, so that these people may eat?” He said this to test him, for he himself knew what he would do (John 6:3-6 ESV).God knows the solution to our needs. You might be going into some trials,I am here to assure you that Jesus knows the solution. You have prayed for a longer period, let me tell you Jesus has the answer.

All Powerful Father
What a wonderful father we have, the loaves and the fish multiplied to thousands and indeed there were excesses. That is the kind of father we serve. No matter your need, God is able to handle your situation because He is all powerful.
We must always remember that Jesus is more powerful than any problem we are facing face or may face. Instead of focusing on the problem, we should focus on Jesus. I like the fact that,He showed the multitude that He could meet their needs easily and even with plenty to spare .
And they all ate and were satisfied.  And they took up twelve baskets full of broken pieces and of the fish.  And those who ate the loaves were five thousand men (Mark 6:41-44,John 6:13).
The Bibles describes the power of Our father in Ephesians 3. “God is able to to exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think...”Our father's power is above all powers. He parted the red sea,He changed water into wine,He healed the sick, raised the dead, walked on the sea. just to mention a few. He used only 6 days to create the entire universe...How big is your problem? Talk to Him.

All Loving Father
Looking at the passage,Jesus might have been engaged in certain activities like healing and teaching before meeting the crowd, which might have made Him so tied and hungry, yet He had compassion on the people and forgot about his own “needs” . His love and compassion for the people compelled him to meet their physical hunger. We serve a loving father who does not only care about our spiritual needs but also our physical needs such as what we eat and wear. His caring and loving nature were greatly exhibited in all four accounts.
There is indeed no limit to Jesus’ love and care for us.
